Spitzer Plans To Uphold Abortion Rights

In the wake of a Supreme Court ruling upholding a nationwide ban on partial-birth abortions, the Spitzer administration said yesterday it would change New York’s abortion laws to guarantee legal protection of a woman’s right to have an abortion.
Spitzer officials said the governor would introduce legislation in coming weeks that would clarify state law to guard against consequences of any future Supreme Court ruling on abortion.
