The Spitzer administration has awarded a contract to a think tank, the Urban Institute, with the goal of helping lawmakers develop a “road map” for achieving universal health insurance.
The award, announced yesterday, was the result of a request for proposals issued by the administration earlier this year.
The Urban Institute will be charged with analyzing specific proposals for providing universal health coverage in New York. Today, state Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, who chairs the Assembly’s health committee, is expected to present his proposal for achieving universal coverage.
