A television spot highlighting the health risks of heavy traffic is scheduled to begin airing today in New York City and Albany, as congestion pricing advocates seek support for the plan ahead of the close of the legislative session on June 21.
The ad, funded by the Campaign for New York’s Future, recounts the story of a Queens mother whose seven children suffer from asthma linked to traffic in their neighborhood.
Support appears to be growing for Mayor Bloomberg’s congestion pricing proposal, according to a new citywide poll by Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates.
Six in 10 respondents, who had been briefed on benefits of congestion pricing, such as the reduction of traffic and asthma rates, supported the plan.
