Two Men Robbed At Gunpoint In Central Park

Two men walking in Central Park were robbed at gunpoint by a group of four young men on Wednesday night, police officials said.
The two men, 34 and 38 years old, were walking at about 7 p.m. on the overpass near 79th Street when four black males between 18 and 20 years old approached them, police said. One of the young men pulled out a handgun, while the other three took their wallets and a cell phone.
The four men fled in the direction of the Great Lawn, but a scan of the area by police did not turn up the suspects. They were described only as wearing dark clothes. Robberies in Central Park are up since last year. There were 29 robberies reported through November 18th, compared with 21 for the same period in 2006.
