EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Roy E. Posner, a former Loews Corporation executive who was a longtime financial adviser to the New York Giants, died early Sunday after suffering a heart attack while on a road trip with the NFL team. He was 73.
Posner was stricken at approximately 1 a.m. EST as the Giants were about to board their chartered Amtrak train in New Carrollton, Md. for the return trip to New Jersey following a 34-28 win over the Washington Redskins.
Hewas treated on the scene by the Giants medical and training staffs before emergency services personnel arrived and took him to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he died a short time later.
Posner was the chief financial officer and senior vice president of Loews from 1973-1997. Though retired, he had been a director of the company since September 30, 1997.
When the late Robert Tisch became the co-owner of the Giants about 15 years ago, Posner started working with the team. The Tisch family owns the Loews Corporation.
“For decades, Roy Posner was a trusted adviser, co-worker and dear friend to my late father, Bob,” co-chairman of the board of Loews Corporation and treasurer of the Giants, Jonathan Tisch, said. “He will be sorely missed by my family and me.”
