Omnipresent White House Aide Natalie Harp, Whom Trump Picked To Secretly Board Decoy Plane With Him, Becomes Subject of Speculation

White House aide Natalie Harp — a fierce devotee of the president who is by his side seemingly at all times — is the subject of new attention due to her exceptionally close, personal relationship with the commander-in-chief. Over the weekend, one senator even cracked a joke about how President Trump may be spending too much time with the 35-year-old. Ms. Harp first met Mr. Trump in 2019 after he signed a federal right-to-try law that gave Ms. Harp access to what she called life-saving treatment. She later spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention and served as an advisor to the president’s re-election campaign that year. Since the day Mr. Trump returned to the White House, Ms. Harp has served as his executive assistant, performing all sorts of tasks including sending out Mr. Trump’s social media posts and handing him printed versions of news stories that the president enjoys. According to New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan’s book “Regime Change,” Ms. Harp is known as the “human printer” and has on multiple occasions written him fawning notes about how much he means to her. Following the release of Ms. Haberman and Mr. Swan’s book, some Democrats on social media began questioning Ms. Harp’s closeness with the president. On Sunday, Senator Jon Ossoff, who is running for re-election in Georgia, cracked a joke about how much time Mr. Trump spends with her. “He doesn’t want to do the job,” Mr. Ossoff said of the president over the weekend. “He wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie on their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the emir of Qatar.”The joke followed reporting by the Washington Post last week detailing how Mr. Trump, departing a NATO summit in Turkey last month, secretly boarded a military aircraft in order to return home amid concerns about a possible Iranian attack on Air Force One. The White House acknowledged at the time that the new Air Force One, gifted by Qatar, was not suitable for travel due to those security concerns, leading Mr. Trump to take the old, blue-and-white presidential aircraft. What was not known to the press or senior administration officials at the time was that Mr. Trump has secretly been ferried off to a third plane to travel home. He was transported to that plane by a catering cart on the tarmac. Secretary of state Marco Rubio and deputy White House chief of staff, as well as dozens of reporters, were left to travel on the old Air Force One. Ms. Harp was among the small group of close Trump aides who went with the president on the military plane. After Mr. Ossoff’s crack about Ms. Harp on Sunday, the White House and Republicans were furious. “Jon Jackoff has to be the biggest cuck loser in politics. Instead of denigrating hard working people serving their country, Jon should look deep into his soul and ask himself why he’s a miserable person who hates this country,” White House communications director Steven Cheung wrote on X. “It’s because he’s a radical, extremist Dumocrat.”Mr. Trump, asked about Mr. Ossoff’s comments, told reporters in the Oval Office that the senator looked like Pee Wee Herman. He did not offer additional comment about Ms. Harp. A Republican strategist and commentator, Scott Jennings, argued that the comments about Ms. Harp reeked of sexism. “This is quite a message for the Democratic Party to send to young women working in politics. Party of women? Pretty ugly stuff,” Mr. Jennings wrote. After the White House and others came after Mr. Ossoff, other Democrats continued to make jokes about the relationship between Mr. Trump and his assistant. The host of the popular liberal podcast “Pod Save America,” Tommy Vietor, said the press should dig into Ms. Harp and the president’s closeness. “It appears that @ossoff touched a nerve by mentioning Trump’s odd relationship with ‘human printer’ Natalie Harp. Seems like something that [the] media should explore!” Mr. Vietor wrote. Other social media accounts like the news aggregation account Headquarters, which is affiliated with Vice President Kamala Harris, has been posting about Ms. Harp and her apparent slavish devotion to Mr. Trump. In one post, the account shared an old video of Mr. Trump saying he might be dating his daughter Ivanka had he not been her father. The account then followed up with a photo of Ms. Harp — who bears some resemblance to the first daughter — staring at Mr. Trump with an ear-to-ear grin.
