‘Open Your Eyes’
Your editorial, as well as the Mayor’s comment, implies that those of us who respect the rule of law and do not support amnesty for illegal aliens are somehow xenophobic [Editorial, “Open Your Eyes,” January 18, 2008].
Both my maternal grandparents were immigrants to our great country and came here legally to start a new life.
I respect anyone, from anywhere, who come to this country legally in order to enjoy the many benefits that America offers to one and all. By its implication, the Sun is adopting the liberal smear tactic that disparages those of us who are conservative and want the rule of law maintained.
I agree America needs to encourage immigration to help our economy grow and prosper. It is not xenophobic to want this accomplished legally.
