When the catwalks arrive, all the cats come out to play. The Olympus Fashion Week tents in Bryant Park are a beacon for anyone who’s been in winter hibernation mode. It’s time for a party, or two, or three, every night of the week. The fashion frenzy of liquor, looks, and loud music started Tuesday, when Saks Fifth Avenue launched the Badgley Mischka Platinum label, which offers the designing team’s gowns the socialites adore at a lower price point.

“We’ve wanted to expand our reach. Now, instead of only being able to afford one or two dresses, women can buy eight to 10 a year,” James Mischka said. The dresses still look like Badgley Mischka, but the beading isn’t as ornate, and it is concentrated in limited areas, such as a bodice.

As for launching a boutique within Saks just as they’re getting ready for their Sunday show, Mr. Mischka said, “We plough through everything, that’s our way. We don’t get bogged down.”

The ladies are trying not to get bogged down by all the show invitations. Agnes Gund is going to one show: Yeohlee. Adelina Wong Ettelson plans on Vivian Tam, Peter Som, and Alvin Valley. And she’s bringing her 1-year-old son Tyler to his first show: Child magazine’s showing off designs for the little ones. “I just hope that he doesn’t have a meltdown,” she said.

The scene was racier Wednesday night when fashion and nightlife photographer Patrick McMullan celebrated his book “Kiss Kiss,” a self-published round-up of smooch shots. The Four Seasons was mobbed with pucker-uppers of all sorts, some of them slicked with Superstay lipstick from Maybelline, the co-host of the party.

Sponsors are a fixture of Fashion Week parties. Uptown at the Whitney Museum of American Art, it was Pantene that helped the Council of Fashion Designers of America pay tribute to “iconic” American designers Oleg Cassini, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Mary McFadden, Vera Wang, and Diane von Furstenberg (whose own postshow party will be sponsored by Imperia Vodka).

At the Core Club, Sean Combs had a party for his new Sean John fragrance, Unforgivable. The heavy hitters attending included Nelly, Pamela Anderson, and Ashanti, who plans to attend the Catherine Malandrino and Miss Sixty shows.

Vogue created a video featuring British advertisers (Burberry, Jo Malone) for what has been the most fun bash so far: a rock concert Wednesday night, part of the fashion magazine’s week-long celebration of British style. The crowd of Vogue readers seemed more interested in their outfits than the performers.

In deference to them, the British folk rocker K.T. Tunstall, whose album comes out in America in a month, gave the dish on her outfit.

“In case you’re wondering, they’re Dior, darling, and I had to cut six inches off the leg,” Ms. Tunstall said on stage. Later she told me they were Hedi Slimane men’s pants. And they were a little baggy.

“Yeah, tighter would be better,” her boyfriend and the band’s drummer, Luke Bullen, said.

Which just goes to show during Fashion Week, anyone can be a fashion critic.

Stay tuned for more parties next week.
