Oscar de la Renta hosted a cocktail party Monday night at his boutique, which opened two weeks ago. It was just what a Madison Avenue party should be: glamorous yet intimate. Friends gathered – nearly all of them attractive, slim, and in possession of a de la Renta dress (or, in the case of his wife, Annette, and daughter, Eliza Reed Bolen, closets full).

Paparazzi on 66th Street delighted in the arrival of actress Sarah Jessica Parker, Czech cover girl Karolina Kurkova, and Kerry Washington (star of “Ray”). Girls-about-town Allison Sarofim, Cynthia Lufkin, and Samantha Boardman juggled shopping and socializing. Editors Anna Wintour (Vogue), Glenda Bailey (Harper’s Bazaar), and Cindy Weber Cleary (In Style) checked one other out as well as, of course, the clothes, accessories, and potpourri (a relatively affordable $38).

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and at a lunch yesterday for Bob Colacello’s book “Ronnie & Nancy,” guests shared their plans. Mr. Colacello will see his mother in the city before heading to the home of Hollywood mogul Sandy Gallin. He’s taking the take the rest of the weekend off to relax at his Amagansett house. Another Reagan biographer, Peggy Noonan, and her son Will are spending the holiday with one of Will’s friends, Perry Wilson. The Wilsons and the Noonans used to stage Thanksgiving plays together – but the tradition languished since the boys hit adolescence (both are 17). Others will head south: “I’ll be with my husband on a boat, and I’ll hike and read,” Diane von Furstenberg said. Claudia Cohen and her family will be in Palm Beach, where dessert includes 4 cakes and 10 pies. Her picks: pumpkin, apple crumb, and that Florida favorite, Key Lime. No matter where one spends the fourth Thursday in November, poet Billy Collins (spotted on the subway on the way back from lunch) recommends “The Owl” by Edward Thomas, which he says is the best poem to read on Thanksgiving.

Julianne Moore and Santa played dress-up yesterday with jewels from the Art of Cartier collection. Ms. Moore balanced a 1910 diamond tiara, once worn by Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, on Saint Nick’s hat. The jovial pair also lit up the mansion’s holiday decorations – giant tiaras and the signature red bow (lit for the first time in honor of its 25th anniversary).

At the premiere of “Christmas with the Kranks,” Argentine actress Julie Gonzalo’s festive red gown was all the decoration the event required. Still, there were snowmen outside Radio City Music City Hall, where the film was screened, and carolers in Victorian dress outside Tavern on the Green, where a party was held afterward.

Actors lent their sparkle to three benefits on Monday night. Robert De Niro presented the Art & Business Council’s award for outstanding achievement to Martin Scorsese, on the eve of his daughter Francesca’s 5th birthday. Meanwhile, the nonprofit theater company New York Stage & Film had its benefit, with guests such as Sam Rockwell, Aidan Quinn, Carol Kane, and from the “The Sopranos,” Edie Falco, Michael Imperioli, Lorraine Bracco, and John Ventimiglia (Honorees included the casting directors of “The Sopranos,” Sheila Jaffe and Georgianne Walken).

A nonprofit that offers counsel to victims of violence, Safe Horizon, brought together cast members of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” for a panel discussion led by the show’s inspiration: Linda Fairstein, who headed the Manhattan District Attorney’s Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit.

The cast has supported Safe Horizons in the past: Stephanie March volunteered at its Family Assistance Center and Mariska Hargitay did a public service announcement about its rape and sexual assault hotline. “It was so effective, the call volume increased 100%,” said Safe Horizon’s chief executive, Gordon Campbell.
