FUN FOR WEE ONES Mothers, mothers-to-be, and little ones are welcome to a babycentric afternoon at the Time Warner Center. Maternity-clothing designer Liz Lange shows her spring collection, children’s musician Brady Rymer performs, and Kindermusik offer a musical playtime to parents and babies. The first 50 mothers to arrive receive prizes from Maclaren, Boppy, and other baby brands. UrbanBaby and Babytalk magazine serve as co-sponsors. CHARITY FOR CHILDREN The acrobatic dance group AntiGravity performs at a benefit dinner for the Children’s Museum of the Arts. Kelly Ripa is the honorary chairwoman of “Artwork and Antics,” which benefits the museum’s educational arts programs. TEENAGE TRAUMA A book club for children ages 12 and above examines Melina Marchetta’s “Saving Francesca” (Knopf) about a teenage girl’s angst-ridden troubles at home and school. Children can enjoy a miniature scavenger hunt with stops at Gus’s Pickles, Economy Candy, and a pizzeria. The tour ends with a lesson about the method of Torah writing at Chasam Sopher from Rabbi Shmuel Wolfman. DEE-LIGHTFUL The Brooklyn band Deedle Deedle Dees perform their silly rock music at Symphony Space. The children’s group’s songs sing about Aaron Burr and John Wilkes Booth and the perils of being “Scared By My Own Costume.” The performance is part of the Just Kidding! series for children. GW SLEPT HERE General George Washington stayed at the Morris-Jumel Mansion during the 1776 Battle of Harlem Heights. The building, now Washington’s only remaining Revolutionary War headquarters in Manhattan, celebrates the first president’s birthday this weekend. A costumed interpreter leads hourly tours (reservations required), children can make Colonial hats and enjoy a scavenger hunt, and there’s warm “wassail punch” for all. OLD-FASHIONED FUN 21st-century families can celebrate George Washington’s birthday in 19th-century style. The Crosswicks Dancers perform traditional English country dances and put on a historical fashion show at the “Birthday Ball.” Guests ages 3 and older can enjoy cookies and cider and tour the museum’s eight period rooms.
