Pentagon Starts Releasing ‘Never-Before-Seen’ UFO Files

The Pentagon is releasing what it touts as “never-before-seen” UFO files including grainy photos, videos, and interviews with witnesses but the new information does not provide any proof of alien visits to Earth.The Department of Defense is housing the data on a UFO website that launched on Friday. It includes information on 162 incidents that span several decades. The department says the American public can now make up their own minds about UFOs.“These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in an X post.One of the records details an FBI interview with a senior American intelligence official regarding his 2025 first-hand account of a UFO encounter at an undisclosed military facility. The intelligence official said he was with a team that was conducting searches in an area where orbs had been previously seen. “After searching the area with a helicopter, they found a ‘super-hot’ orb hovering over the ground,” the document states.The orb was said to have travelled for 20 miles at a speed too fast for the helicopter to keep up. Witnesses reported an additional “swarm” of lights seen moving in all directions. The intelligence official said that four or five additional orbs were briefly seen a short time later, flaring up and down for a period of about thirty minutes.At one point, according to the intelligence official, the orbs appeared to have pursued a military aircraft.Among the images released was a photo of a field with an FBI rendered graphic overlay depicting eyewitness reports from September 2023 of an apparent bronze metallic object materializing out of a bright light in the sky. The object was 130-195 feet in length and reportedly disappeared instantaneously. No other information about the incident was released, including the location where the sighting took place.“For the first time in history, the American people have unfettered access to declassified government files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon – a level of transparency that no prior administration has delivered,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a release. “The FBI remains committed to supporting this rolling declassification effort with the same rigor and integrity we bring to every national security matter.”Another of the newly released images was taken during the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. The photo shows three dots in a triangular formation seen in the distance from the surface of the moon. The caption says that “there is no consensus about the nature of the anomaly” but it could be a “physical object.”“We will remain candid about what we know to be true, what we have yet to understand, and all that remains to be discovered,” NASA’s administrator, Jared Isaacman, said. “Exploration and the pursuit of knowledge are core to NASA’s mission as we endeavor to unlock the secrets of the universe.”The Pentagon says that while all of the files have been reviewed for security purposes, many have not yet been analyzed for resolution of any anomalies.The White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, NASA, and the FBI are also involved in the release of the declassified documents. The Department of Defense says additional files will be released each few weeks as it reviews “tens of millions” of records.President Trump, last year, ordered the declassification of government UFO files “in the interest of total transparency.”Some critics were unimpressed with the new information. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former ally of Mr. Trump, who resigned from Congress last year, called the release “shiny object” propaganda. “Unless they roll out live aliens and test demo UFOs or actually admit what we know this really is then I have way better things to do on this Friday,” Ms. Greene said in an X post.
