Donald Trump, real estate and casino mogul, is donating 436 acres straddling two counties just north of New York City to create a state park in his name.

The property, located about 45 miles from the city in Yorktown, is made up of two separate parcels and will be used for recreation such as hiking, a spokesman for Governor Pataki, Peter Constantakes, said.

Indian Hill, about 282 acres on the border of Westchester and Putnam counties along the Taconic State Parkway, is made up of wooded areas, meadows, and wetlands, he said. French Hill is 154 acres and is forested, with 20 acres of wetlands. The property – named for French troops who camped there on their way to help George Washington fight the British – is located entirely in the New York City Watershed Area.

“The establishment of Donald J. Trump State Park will increase public access to scenic landscapes and provide additional recreational opportunities for families and visitors to the region,” Mr. Pataki said in a statement.

The park will be the state’s 174th and is in an area of the state where land is at a premium, Mr. Constantakes said.

“In that area, where land is more highly priced, this is a very sizable parcel,” he said. Mr. Trump estimated the value of the land to be about $100 million, the Associated Press reported. He said he bought it for $2 million in the 1990s.

Mr. Trump, one of the world’s richest people with a net worth about $2.6 billion according to Forbes magazine, has several other properties in Westchester County, including Trump National Golf Club and a residential community there, and the Trump Tower in White Plains. A 40-story residential tower is planned for New Rochelle, according to Mr. Trump’s Web site.

He also owns nine Manhattan housing and commercial properties, as well as locations in Atlantic City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, Toronto, and Seoul.

“I have always loved the city and state of New York, and this is my way of trying to give back,” Mr. Trump, who is 59, said in a statement.
