Already a popular meme for the sheer number of hats he wears in the second Trump administration, Secretary of State Marco Rubio can add a new role to his increasingly long curriculum vitae — DJ of the dance floor.In a video of Mr. Rubio shared on X by White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, the man in charge of navigating the complex geopolitical landscape and managing ongoing foreign conflicts on behalf of the United States can be seen bouncing up and down at a wedding Saturday night, headphones pressed to his ear, deejaying an electronic dance song.In the footage confirmed by Mr. Scavino, Mr. Rubio is hunched over a laptop and what appears to be a mixing board or turntable, reading the room like a seasoned club veteran. As the beat drops, the Florida Republican pumps his fist into the air, much to the delight of the elated, jumping crowd.“MOMENTS AGO, BEHIND THE SCENES,” Mr. Scavino wrote alongside the clip. “Our Great Secretary of State Marco Rubio DJs weddings too! Let’s goooooo!!!”The video is a real-life take on the ever-growing list of social media posts featuring the secretary. Using an image snapped of the secretary during a February 28, 2025, Oval Office meeting among President Trump, Vice President Vance and Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, Mr. Rubio has been photoshopped doing all kinds of jobs, from a Spirit Airlines pilot, Kentucky Derby jockey, and White House Easter Bunny to governor of Minnesota and president of Cuba. With hundreds of takes, he has neither commented on nor acknowledged the viral trend.Naturally, the internet had a field day. Having already earned the tongue-in-cheek moniker of “Secretary of Everything,” social media users immediately leaned into the hugely popular meme that suggests there is simply no job Mr. Rubio won’t do. “DJ MAGA Rubio in the house tonight,” one X user wrote. “So glad to see you all get to have fun sometimes. Marco will be the most accomplished man on the planet with all the jobs he gets to do,” wrote another.But not everyone is laughing it off. Liberal online critics quickly accused the rising political star — recent polls position him as a strong 2028 GOP presidential contender just behind Vice President JD Vance — of having misplaced priorities amid the ongoing war in Iran and soaring gas prices.“Trump picked up a guy who is supposed to be a DJ and gave him a position of Secretary of State, no wonder he’s failed at delivering,” one poster said.
