ROONEY, MANU TOP AC MILAN IN CHAMPIONS SEMIFINALS
Wayne Rooney scored his sec ond goal in the first minute of in jury time, and Manchester Unit ed rallied past AC Milan 3-2 yes terday in the first leg of the Euro pean Champions League semifi nals.
Rooney’s shot from the top of the penalty area beat goalkeeper Dida just inside the near post, Rooney’s fourth goal in his last three Cham pions League games.
“We kept going to the end,” Rooney said. “We knew if we could get a victory here, it will be easier when we go to the away leg.”
Manchester United led in the fifth minute after Cristiano Ronal do headed a corner kick off Dida’s shoulder. The ball deflected up and Dida scrambled back only to get a fingertip to it before it dropped into the goal

CELTICS SEVERING TIES WITH TELFAIR
The Boston Celtics are severing ties with guard Sebastian Telfair days after he was arrested in the New York area and charged with carrying a loaded gun in his car.
Team managing partner Wyc Grousbeck said Telfair, the 13th pick in the 2004 draft and coming off a disappointing first season with the Celtics, would not be back with the team.
Telfair pleaded not guilty to a charge of felony second-degree possession of a weapon, and was released Friday on $7,500 bail.
SONICS FIRE COACH BOB HILL, REMOVE SUND AS GM
The Seattle SuperSonics began overhauling their basketball operations yesterday, firing head coach Bob Hill and removing Rick Sund as general manager following one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
Seattle went 31–51 in Hill’s only full season as head coach, the Sonics’ worst record since they finished with an identical mark in 1985-86. Only three times in the Sonics’ 40-year history have they finished with a worse record.
Hill’s contract was set to expire in June. The Sonics said Sund will remain with the team as a consultant during the final year of his contract.
