GIAMBI GOES FOR MORE TESTS ON INJURED RIGHT FOOT
Yankees slugger Jason Giambi was out of the starting lineup Wednesday night and went to a hospital for more tests on his bruised right foot. Giambi was hit by a pitch from Baltimore’s Daniel Cabrera in the second inning of New York’s 8-5 win Monday night. The designated hitter stayed in but was lifted for a pinch runner in the eighth after his third walk of the game. Manager Joe Torre said he was going to start Giambi at first base Tuesday but the foot was still bothering him. X-rays were negative.
OKAJIMA SIDELINED BY TIRED ARM
Red Sox reliever Hideki Okajima won’t pitch for several days because of a tired arm. Okajima has not appeared in a game since Friday, when he allowed a career-high four runs, including two homers — in one-third of an inning in an 8–7 loss to the Yankees.

TEXANS’ JOHNSON SAYS HE’LL MISS SUNDAY’S GAME
Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson ruled out playing against Indianapolis this week as he recovers from a sprained knee. Asked yesterday if there was any chance he could play against the Colts, Johnson said: “No. I mean as it looks right now, you look at me right now, no I wouldn’t be out there on Sunday.” The news is a blow to a team that is 2–0 for the first time and preparing to face the Super Bowl champions. Rookie Jacoby Jones, who has two catches for 33 yards, will probably start in Johnson’s place. Second receiver Kevin Walter has two catches for 17 yards.
OWENS FINED FOR MOCK VIDEOTAPE TD CELEBRATION
After seeing the videotape of Terrell Owens’s latest touchdown celebration, the NFL office wasn’t laughing. Owens said yesterday he was fined “a good chunk of money” — which he later defined as thousands of dollars — for a celebration that included him using the goal post and football to poke fun at the New England Patriots’ spying scandal during Dallas’ 37–20 victory over Miami this past Sunday. A league spokesman said the fine was $7,500.
“It wasn’t even the fact I used the goal post as a prop,” Owens said. “They said I used the ball.”
MANGINI, BILLICK CLEAR AIR
Jets coach Eric Mangini cleared the air with Baltimore’s Brian Billick after the Ravens coach accused New York of using an “illegal” ploy to draw his team offside during Sunday’s game.
“I talked to Brian (Tuesday) and we had a good conversation,” Mangini said yesterday. “It was important for me to talk to him and make sure we didn’t have a misunderstanding. We don’t coach things to cause penalties. We don’t believe in getting penalties, and it’s something that we work to minimize at all times.”
