Is there anyone who can top Yigal Azrouël at making rumpled casual appear drop-dead sexy? Not likely. His spring 2008 collection has the spirit of day spent between the bed, the beach, and the clubs. As if thumbing his nose at the sense of propriety and modesty that is so pervasive for fall, his best dress came with a top that resembled a torn T-shirt and a long skirt of black cotton jacquard fabric. One comfortable-looking shirt — shown with easy, wide shorts — featured elastic bra straps connected to a loose tank top made of cotton broadcloth material. Mr. Azrouël also showed his second collection for men, which is made for that laid-back, artsy type who can pull off the navy-blue mechanic’s jumper and still get a date. The menswear was shown with the results of the brand’s collaboration with K-Swiss. Houndstooth sneakers? Somehow, it works.
