Teens who want to look like Mischa Barton and her pals on Fox’s hit television show “The O.C.” now have an easy way to get the look. Warner Bros. has teamed up with Amazon.com and Necessary Objects, a popular juniors brand, to create a line of clothing inspired by the show. The label – Necessary Objects for The O.C. – is a 12-piece collection inspired by the style and lifestyles of the women on the show.

“The draw of ‘The O.C.’ is that people envision themselves living that lifestyle,” Ady Gluck-Frankel, the line’s designer, said. “They want to dress and look like these fabulous women on the show. With Necessary Objects for The O.C., we’re allowing fans to tap into that look.”

The project stems from a simple matter of recognizing and meeting demand. “Girls writing in to the show, asking where they can get the clothes was the driving force,” said Ms. Gluck-Frankel.

Unlike successful fashion lines by celebrities like Jennifer Lopez or the Olsen twins, this line is based exclusively on fictional characters and not the celebrities themselves. And the pieces weren’t designed to reflect one character or another individually. “The way the different pieces are put together defines the character,” Ms. Gluck-Frankel said. Those pieces include a short-sleeve shrug ($58), cap-sleeve turtleneck sweater ($48), cropped, wide-leg pants ($78), and a baby doll halter with a velvet burnout design ($58).

The concept is enough to make your head spin. This is art imitating art imitating life. Teenage life in sunny California, that is.

Necessary Objects for The O.C. is available exclusively at www.amazon.com. The season premiere of “The O.C.” broadcasts on September 8 on Fox.
