The Bank of America will lend prepackaged exhibitions of artwork drawn from its collections to American museums at no cost to the institutions, the Art Newspaper reported Thursday.

The bank’s collection is among the largest owned by a corporation and includes about 1,500 museum-quality works, mostly postwar American pieces.

The bank has 27 shows planned for 2009 for museums such as the International Center of Photography in New York, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, and the Napa Valley Museum in Yountville, Calif.

The exhibitions will focus on modern and contemporary art, American impressionism, works by the Wyeth family and Andy Warhol, African-American art, Western American art, and photographs.

The bank has not disclosed the cost of the program.
