After an actress in Robert Wilson’s “Fables de La Fontaine” injured herself in a fall, the production’s artistic director will replace her for the duration of the show’s sold-out run at the Lincoln Center Festival.
Actress Madeleine Marion, who plays the Ant, Heifer, Cow and Lady in the show, which is an adaptation of 17th-century fables written by Jean de La Fontaine, suffered a hip injury in an accidental fall. Lincoln Center canceled Thursday’s performance, and announced that Muriel Mayette, artistic director of the classical French theater company Comédie-Française, which is presenting the production in collaboration with Texas-born avant-garde director Mr. Wilson, will fill Ms. Marion’s duties.
Ms. Mayette, an accomplished actress and member of the Comédie-Française since 1985, became the first woman to be named president and artistic director of the revered company in August 2006.
Lincoln Center added a 2 p.m. matinée on July 15 to make up for the canceled performance. Ms. Marion is expected to make a full recovery, a Lincoln Center spokesmen said.
