Late Sunday, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced its slate of the best films of 2007. As reported by Variety, Paul Thomas Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood” blew the competition away, taking home three top honors — best picture, best actor (for Daniel Day-Lewis), and best director. If there was any doubt that this year’s Oscar race is as unclear as any in memory, “There Will Be Blood” did not even appear on the National Board of Review’s list of the 10 best movies of the year when it was published last week.
