The New York Philharmonic’s outgoing music director, Lorin Maazel, will lead the orchestra on a tour of Europe this summer for his fourth and last time, the orchestra announced Tuesday. The nine-city tour, which was organized to commemorate Mr. Maazel’s last year as music director, will begin in London and will include 14 performances.
Highlights of the programs include Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring,” Bartók’s “Miraculous Mandarin” suite, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 8, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Works by Mendelssohn, Gershwin, and Ravel will also be included.
