Summer may be a slow time for new shows in New York, but that hasn’t stopped Town Hall from celebrating musical theater with three special concerts on consecutive Monday nights.
“The Second Annual Summer Broadway Festival” will be held July 14, July 21, and July 28 at the venerable theater located at 123 W. 43rd St.
First up will be a “A Night at the Operetta” (July 14), featuring music by Sigmund Romberg, Rudolf Friml, and Victor Herbert. The singers include Christine Andreas, John Easterlin, Alexander Gemignani, Jason Graae, Lisa Howard, and Marc Kudisch, among others.
The second offering will be “Broadway’s Rising Stars” (July 21), co-directed by Emily Skinner of “Side Show” fame and Scott Coulter. It will showcase new talent chosen from performing arts schools in New York and throughout the country.
The final entertainment is “All Singin’ All Dancin'” (July 28), featuring show tunes decked out with new choreography by Joshua Rhodes and danced by some of Broadway’s top hoofers. And there will be singing, too, provided by the likes of Michael Arden, Alli Maurzey, Jennifer Hope Wills, and Carol Woods.
