This weekend, you can take part in three nights of pure terror.

After Dark Films will release eight new horror films in 500 cities around the country for one weekend only, providing a first and last chance to these new horror films on the big screen.

In Snoop Dogg’s “The Hood of Horror,” the Cribkeeper (Snoop Dogg) narrates three gore-splattered vignettes: A ghoul shows a young woman how to exact revenge on the thugs who murdered her mother; a sinister oil heir experiences nasty karmic payback while trying to evict four Army veterans from his inherited property; and a DJ returns from the grave to teach his smug expartner a lesson.

Among the other films included in the horrorfest are Jason Todd Ipson’s “Unrest,” Takashi Shimizu’s “Rinne,” Mike Mendez’s “The Gravedancers,” Richard Brandes’s “Penny Dreadful,” and Craig Singer’s “Dark Ride.”

Two of the most anticipated films in the series are Nacho Cerdà’s “The Abandoned” and the Butcher Brothers’ “The Hamiltons.”

In the former, Mr. Cerdà, well known as a short filmmaker, makes his fulllength debut, telling the story of a film producer who was adopted as a baby and sent to America following the death of her last surviving family member. When she returns to her native Russia to the family farm, strange things begin to happen, including the disappearance of her guide and the appearance of a man who also has been drawn to the farm for mysterious reasons.

In the latter, three siblings with some dark secrets move to a quaint Southern town, still grieving the recent deaths of their parents. But once those secrets threaten to get out, one of them must decide whether to become a coldblooded killer like his older siblings or turn to the only people who have ever loved him.
