LINE MEDITATIONS
Abstract geometric paintings by Anil Revri are on display at Sundaram Tagore Gallery. “Quantum” includes works from the series “Cultural Crossings,” which explores the similarities among major religions. Some of the precisely rendered artworks resemble windows overlooking outer space; others are simply mesmerizing patterns. Mr. Revri has said that his work is inspired by Eastern philosophy and that “each piece becomes a meditation.” Mr. Revri was born in New Delhi, India, and is now based in Washington, D.C. Through Sunday, May 15, daily, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Sundaram Tagore Gallery, 137 Greene St., between Prince and Houston streets, 212-677-4520, free.
OH, BABY
Julie Farstad’s paintings of baby dolls in surreal settings are on display in “Eat My Heart Out,” which closes this weekend at Ricco/Maresca Gallery. Ms. Farstad says she wants to address “flirtation, passive aggression, and manipulation” in her colorful paintings. Also on display: photograms by Nicki Stager, who uses color and light but no camera or negatives. Through Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Ricco/Maresca Gallery, 529 W. 20th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, third floor, 212-627-4819, free.
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Photographer Angela Strassheim’s first solo exhibit, which closes Saturday, consists of 15 large-scale images of her born-again Christian family and their homes. “Left Behind” – the exhibit’s title refers in part to a best-selling series of evangelical novels – finds a young woman lounging in bed, a little girl playing with a herd of plastic horses, and a middle-age woman wearing a pink bathrobe and standing on the sidewalk in front of an enormous house. Through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Marvelli Gallery, 526 W. 26th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, second floor, 212-627-3363, free.
