SUDDENLY SEEN Argentina-born, Venice based artist Carolina Raquel Antich’s first New York solo exhibit is on display through this week. The show, “Di Punto in Bianco” (All of a Sudden), features paintings, drawings, and video animation. PILGRIM’S PROGRESS In the summer of 1999, Father Jerome Tupa made an artistic and spiritual pilgrimage to Rome from Milan. During his travels, he kept a journal and made hundreds of drawings, which inspired him to paint the bright oil and watercolor paintings that are now on display in the exhibit “The Road to Rome: A Modern Pilgrimage.” Through August, Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., National Museum of Catholic Art and History, 443 E. 115th St., between First and Pleasant avenues, 212-828-5209, $5 suggested donation.
EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED An exhibit features 100 medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts. “The Splendor of the Word” includes Bibles, prayer books, atlases, psalters, scientific texts, and romances, all drawn from the New York Public Library’s collection of Western European manuscripts. Through Sunday, February 12, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday, 1-5 p.m., New York Public Library, Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street, 212-869-8089, free.
