A YEAR OF SONG Chelsea Opera celebrates its first anniversary with a benefit reception and performance of rarely heard choral works. The program includes Vaughn Williams’s “Serenade to Music,” Barber’s “Agnus Dei,”Verdi’s “Te Deum,” and songs by Dubussy and Rossini. The group’s music director, Carmine Aufiero, conducts the 40-member choir. In December, Chelsea Opera will stage Menotti’s Christmas operetta “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in English and Spanish. Sunday, 2:30 p.m. reception, 4 p.m. concert, Christ and St. Stephen’s Church, 120 W. 69th St., between Broadway and Columbus Avenue, 212-260-1796, $50 reception and concert, $25 concert only.
