COSTELLO & CO. The new Junior Committee of the City Parks sponsors a cocktail party at the Central Park pergola overlook before a benefit concert at SummerStage. Elvis Costello, along with his band, the Imposters, joins country crooner Emmylou Harris in a performance that raises money for the City Parks Foundation’s Partnership for Parks program. Tonight, 6 p.m. cocktails, 7:30 p.m. concert, Central Park SummerStage, Rumsey Playfield, enter the park at 69th Street and Fifth Avenue or at 72nd Street and Central Park West, 212-360-8283, $75 and $100.
CELEBRATING CHEFS The executive chef at Union Square Cafe, Michael Romano, is the guest of honor at the James Beard Foundation’s annual Chefs & Champagne summer dinner. More than 30 chefs contribute tastings, including Rebecca Charles of Pearl Oyster Bar, Kerry Heffernan of Eleven Madison Park, and Scott Linquist of Dos Caminos. Saturday, 5-8 p.m., Wolffer Estate Vineyard, Sagaponack, L.I., 212-627-2308, $200 general, $150 members.
