CHILDREN CHA-CHA The American Ballroom Theater’s Dancing Classrooms project holds its annual competition. Nine teams of fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade ballroom dancers from New York City public schools compete for a coveted trophy for best merengue, foxtrot, tango, and other old-fashioned dances. The 2004 competition was the basis of the recently released documentary “Mad Hot Ballroom.” Tomorrow, 5-6:45 p.m., World Financial Center Winter Garden, 220 Vesey St. at the West Side Highway, 212-945-2600, free.
