PLANT PIGMENTS At a colorful weekend workshop, children collect flower petals and berries and then crush and boil them into dye for yarn creations. PACHYDERM PRIDE Laurent de Brunhoff discusses and signs the latest installment in his Babar series of children’s books. In “Babar’s World Tour” (Abrams), the regal elephant takes his children on a trip around the globe. AUTUMN ART The National Academy presents the Big Pumpkin Event, where children can make paintings filled with foliage, gourds, and pumpkins. The event takes place in conjunction with the new exhibit of works by artist Jean Helion, who is known for his still lifes with pumpkins. ALL FIVE SENSES The Brooklyn Children’s Museum’s “access/ABILITY,” an interactive exhibit that compares lifestyles of people with and without disabilities, closes this weekend. Children can try Braille, sign language, a hand-pedaled bike, and take a multisensory city walk while blindfolded. Through Sunday, Friday, 1-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave. at St. Mark’s Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-735-4400, $4 general, free for members and children.
