DECO ON STREEN Film Forum marks Art Deco Week with a double feature of period films and an illustrated slide lecture by the authors of “Screen Deco: A Celebration of High Style in Hollywood” (Hennessey and Ingalls), Howard Mandelbaum and Eric Myers. “Top of the Town” (1937), in which a romance plays out in part in the deco-decorated Moonbeam Room, screens after each lecture (2:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.). Devoted deco fans can then take in “Reaching for the Moon” (1930), in which Douglas Fairbanks plays a Wall Street hotshot who falls for a glamorous pilot (1 p.m., 5:15 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.). EARLY ‘EMPIRE’ Makor offers a sneak preview of the HBO film “Empire Falls,” adapted by Richard Russo from his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Fred Schepisi directed the two-part film, which will air on HBO this Saturday and Sunday. Tonight, 7 p.m., Makor, 35 W. 67th St., between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, 212-415-5500. OUT OF AFRICA BAMcinematek presents screenings from “The Best of the African Film Festival.” First up is “Jaguar” (1967), a blend of documentary footage and fictional travelogue about three young Nigerian men looking for luck along the African coast (tomorrow, 6:50 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.).
