Free Summer Opera Returns to City Parks

The Metropolitan Opera’s “Met in the Park” series will begin its 41st season with a performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème” on Tuesday, June 12 in Central Park. The series will feature four performances of “La Bohème,” and four of Charles Gounod’s “Faust,” which also opens in Central Park on Wednesday, June 13.
“Met in the Park” will present performances in parks in all five boroughs: The series travels from Central Park to Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, Snug Harbor in Staten Island, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Cunningham Park in Queens, and Brookdale Park in Montclair, N.J.
“La Bohème,” conducted by Gareth Morrell, features soprano Hei-Kyung Hong as Mimì and tenor Roberto Aronica as Rodolfo. “Faust” is conducted by Maurizio Benini, and stars soprano Darina Takova as Marguerite.
