COMPOSER FOCUS
The music director of the San Francisco Symphony, Michael Tilson Thomas,discusses his passion for composing at a performance of his work.The recital includes “Island Music” and the world premieres of “Rilke Songs,” “Tea with Maggie,” and “Notturno” for flute, harp, and string quintet. The event is part of the “Making Music” series of performance and discussions with contemporary composers. CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
The American Contemporary Music Ensemble performs a program of works by three New York composers, Elliott Carter, Nico Muhly, and Ryan Streber.
