STRAUSS’S HOUSE
Leonard Slatkin conducts the New York Philharmonic in a program that includes Richard Strauss’s “Symphonia Domestica,” which includes references to a baby’s bath time, a lullaby, the parents’ conjugal romance, and a family squabble.The program also features Jefferson Friedman’s “The Throne of the Third Heaven … ” and Ernst Bloch’s “Schelomo.” Lynn Harrell is the solo cellist. SWEET SOUNDS
Singer-songwriter Marc Anthony Thompson (aka Chocolate Genius) joins musician and producer Stuart Matthewman (aka Cottonbelly) for a “SoundCheck” event at the Whitney. The duo will use electronic techniques to deconstruct and remix songs from Mr. Thompson’s repertory. BROOKLYN BLUEGRASS
