PERCUSSIVE PERFORMANCE The New York premiere of Hamid Drake and Michael Zerang’s percussion project, “Winter Dream,” marks the beginning of the Whitney’s 2006 performance series. TRIUMPHANT SCORE Kane Street Synagogue and the Brooklyn Philharmonic present a performance of “Judas Maccabeus,” Handel’s oratorio about the triumph of the few over the many. The performance features members of the Brooklyn Philharmonic and Chorus under the direction of Aaron Smith. Sunday, 3 p.m., Kane Street Synagogue, 236 Kane St., between Court and Clinton streets, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, 718-875-1550, $20 general, $10 children 13 and under.


PARIS IN NEW YORK The Electronic Music Foundation presents two concerts celebrating music by composers from the Paris-based Groupe de Recherches Musicales. The first concert includes works by the Franco-Argentinean composer – and the group’s director – Daniel Teruggi, and the American premiere of Claude Risset’s “Nature contre nature.”The second concert features the music of the electronic music pioneer Francois Bayle, the American premiere of “Ombrages et trouees,” as well as a conversation between Messrs. Bayle and Teruggi. Sunday and Monday, 8 p.m., New York University, Frederick Loewe Theater, 35 W. 4th St. at Greene Street, 518-434-4110, free.


CHAMBER CLASSICS The Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival kicks off with a program that features work by Mozart and Schoenberg, along with the American premiere of Betty Olivero’s “Aria,” a quartet for piano, violin, cello, and clarinet (Wednesday). The next evening includes the American premiere of York Holler’s “Klangzeichen” (Thursday). Both performances: 7:30 p.m., Carnegie Hall, Zankel Hall, 881 Seventh Ave. at 57th Street, 212-247-7800, $35-$40.
