BEACH ANTICS Coney Island’s 23rd annual Mermaid Parade features participants garbed in handmade mermaid and Neptune costumes, as well as antique cars, marching bands, drill teams, and the occasional yacht pulled on flatbed. Saturday, 2 p.m. start (10 a.m. march registration), West 10th Street and Surf Avenue, Coney Island, Brooklyn, 718-372-5159, rain or shine, free.
SKIRTS Heritage of Pride presents Rapture on the River, a dance for women featuring the disc jockey Twisted Dee. The dance helps support the the organization’s events during Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Week. Saturday, 5 p.m., Pier 13, 13th Street at the Hudson River 212-807-7433 $25
