MACHINE MADNESS The Out Loud reading series presents a staged reading of Aurin Squire’s “The Great Black Sambo Machine.” The satire follows a middleclass family who suddenly enter the world of television and are given everything they’ve ever wanted. WEST MEETS EAST The Japan Society’s new Monday Play Reading introduces American audiences to contemporary Japanese plays. Up next is “Fireflies,” by Toshiro Suzue, which explores the loneliness of several men and women in a large city.
