PRESIDENTIAL POWER Historian James Grant discusses the life of John Adams. Mr. Grant’s biography, “John Adams: Party of One” (Farrar, Straus and Giroux), argues that Adams played a critical, yet overlooked, role in the American Revolution. AMERICAN PLAYGROUND Author Susan Solomon discusses American playgrounds in terms of social history, law, theories of play, and urban planning. CRITICS’ CHOICE The next installment of the Review Panel, which gathers art critics to discuss current gallery shows, takes place this week. Critics Bridget Goodbody (TimeOut New York), Peter Plagens (Newsweek), and Stephen Westfall (Art in America) participate. They discuss Eija-Liisa Ahtila’s work at Marian Goodman, Bendix Harms at Anton Kern, Thomas Hirschhorn at Gladstone, and “A True Story Based on Lies” at Cheim & Read.
