PHYSICS COMEDY
“Happy Hour at the Event Horizon” mixes science, cocktails, and comedy to create a performance billed as “the weirdest show you’ll see this year.” Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr relax at a bar on the edge of a black hole, chatting with an escaped photon, an elderly galaxy, and a riotous gang of theories. After each of this weekend’s matinee performances, there are panel discussions on “Science in the Public Eye.” Opens: Tonight. Runs: Through Sunday, May 1, Blue Heron Arts Center, studio theater, 123 E. 24th St., between Park Avenue South and Lexington Avenue, 212-868-4444, $12.
TURKISH DELIGHT
Catherine Filloux’s “The Beauty Inside” has its world premiere at the Culture Project. The play tells the stories of a girl who survives an “honor killing” in rural Turkey and the Turkish-American lawyer who tries to defend her against her family. Kay Matschullat directs the New Georges production. Through Saturday, May 7, Monday-Friday, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, 3 and 7:30 p.m., the Culture Project, 45 Bleecker St. at Lafayette Street, 212-868-4444, $25. Note: Monday performances are pay-what-you-wish at the door.
