NORTHERN STAGELIGHTS Judith Thompson’s “I Am Yours” receives its New York premiere from Canuck Productions, which brings Canadian plays to New York City. The play is a dark drama about obsessive love and family complications. GODFATHER AND SON Darren Murphy’s “Tabloid Caligula” is staged as part of the Brits Off Broadway theater series. It follows an aging gangster, his young protege, and the woman who inevitably comes between then. Lisa Forrell directs. HURT BY THE MACHINE A revival of Sophie Treadwell’s 1928 drama “Machinal” tells the story of a woman driven to crime by society’s sped-up demands. The plot is loosely based on a 1927 murder case that became a tabloid fixture in its day. Morgan Anne Zipf directs the Dreamscape Theatre production. The play is performed in repertory with an adaptation of “Hamlet” (opens Friday) and the dark comedy “Tiny Dynamite” (opens Saturday).
