WEST SIDE STORIES The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District leads “Sidewalk Surprises in Lincoln Square,” a walking tour series that kicks off this weekend.The tour extends to 70th Street from Columbus Circle and highlights architectural, historic, and artistic points of interest. Saturdays through November 12, 11 a.m., meet at the Maine Monument at Merchant’s Gate across from the Columbus Circle fountain, 59th Street and Central Park West, 212-581-3774, free.
CHEW ON THIS Naturalist Steve “Wildman” Brill leads a field walk through Central Park, pointing out boletes and russulas (types of mushrooms), carnelian cherries, and lamb’s quarters (a wild spinach), among other edible and medicinal plants. Sunday, 11:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m., meet at 72nd Street and Central Park West, reservations required 24 hours in advance, 914-835-2153, $10 general suggested donation, $5 children suggested donation.
