TOKYO (AP) – An American submarine and Japanese merchant ship collided in the Arabian Sea, the American Navy and Japan’s Kyodo News agency said Tuesday.

The Navy said the accident occurred Monday night local time and that neither vessel reported any injuries or serious damages.

Kyodo said American officials passed the information on the crash to Japan’s Foreign Ministry shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials at Japan’s Defense Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they did not have any information on the report.
