TBILISI, Georgia — President Saakashvili of Georgia faces a verdict on his handling of opposition protests and his economic policies when voters go to the polls today to elect a new parliament for the Black Sea country.
Mr. Saakashvili, 40, won a second term in a January 5 vote that the opposition says was rigged. The president’s detractors have accused him of failing to raise living standards and suppressing dissent.
