Taiwan Resubmits Application For U.N. Membership

Taiwan re-submitted an application for the island to join the United Nations after the world body last week rejected its bid for membership, citing adherence to the “one China” principle. President Chen sent a letter to Secretary-General Ban on July 27, according to a statement posted on the government’s Web site.
