Billionaire investor Warren Buffett will host a fund-raising event for Senator Obama, a Democratic presidential candidate, in Nebraska this month.
Mr. Buffett is using his influence to attract donors for Mr. Obama, 46, as well as a rival presidential hopeful, Senator Clinton. Mr. Buffett held a New York fund-raiser for Mrs. Clinton in June that raised about $1 million.
An invitation for the August 15 reception at the Ironwood Country Club in Omaha asks those who wish to be listed as hosts for the event to raise $5,000. Other attendees are asked to give between $500 and $2,300, the most an individual can contribute for a candidate’s primary campaign.
Mr. Buffett said earlier this year that he would help either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama with their presidential campaigns if asked. They “would apply enormous energy toward the right goals,” Mr. Buffett said in a May 9 interview. Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki declined to say how much the event is expected to raise for the Illinois senator. Mr. Buffett wasn’t available for comment.
