MIAMI — Authorities say a crane collapse at a Miami construction site injured at least five workers.
A fire department spokesman, Ignatius Carroll, says three construction workers were transported to hospitals in critical condition. He says one was treated at the scene and one was possibly trapped under rubble.
He says rescue efforts are being hampered because the crane was not stable. He’s not sure how the crane fell.
Parts of a building on the construction site were destroyed by the crane. Mr. Carroll says the building was an unoccupied home used in the movie “There’s Something About Mary.” He says the contractor used the building as an office.
The accident comes 10 days after a crane collapsed at a New York construction site, killing seven people.
