WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. — The state Senate president pleaded guilty yesterday and apologized for his driving drunk arrest. James Metzen was sentenced to a year on probation for driving while intoxicated, plus 20 hours of community service, and was fined $300.

“I’m very sorry for what happened, not so much for myself but I guess for my friends and family who feel really bad about it.”
