The son of one of the founders of the Brooklyn Brewery died in a freak bike accident when he fell off the upper level of the Manhattan Bridge to the lower level and into oncoming traffic.

Sam Hindy, 27, and a friend were headed to Brooklyn shortly before midnight Friday when they mistakenly entered the upper roadway, which is reserved for car traffic.”They were on the upper level and people started honking at them so they turned around,” Hindy’s father, Stephen Hindy, said.

But as Hindy tried to turn, his front wheel hit a concrete barrier and he flipped over and fell to the lower level. He was pronounced dead early Saturday at New York Downtown Hospital.
