Brooklyn Father Charged in Son’s Death

The Brooklyn father of a 3-year-old boy found in a gym bag in front of a Queens church has been charged in connection with his son’s death, police said.
William Lee, 38, of Bedford-Stuyvesant, was charged yesterday with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, and illegal disposal of a body, police said. The body of his son, Marcus, was discovered in a gym bag at 10 a.m. on Friday in front of the First Baptist Church at 145-50 109th Ave. at Jamaica, according to police.
Police said the boy was kidnapped by his father on Wednesday. The father turned himself in to law enforcement authorities on Friday night at Brooklyn Supreme Court.
BRONX DRUG SUSPECT PLUNGES TO HIS DEATH
A suspected crack dealer plunged to his death from a Morris Heights rooftop as he fled detectives, police said.
Detectives observed the 27-year-old male suspect, who has not been named pending family notification, sell crack cocaine to a female suspect at 12:45 p.m. yesterday in front of 1372 Ogden Ave., police said.
The detectives approached the suspects and arrested the buyer, police said, but the dealer fled into the building and up to the roof. Police said the dealer fled northbound along the rooftops, failed to clear an 8-foot space between two buildings, and dropped five stories to a courtyard, where he died.
Crack cocaine was found on the dealer’s body, police said. The surviving suspect, who was not identified by police, was also carrying crack cocaine and was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
TODDLER BEATEN TO DEATH
A 2-year-old boy was beaten to death at a Morningside Heights housing project yesterday, and police were interviewing a family member and another person who lives with the child, police said.
At 2 a.m. yesterday, Police and EMS were called to an apartment at the Grant Houses on Broadway on a report of an unconscious child. The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m., police said. Police said the boy had numerous bruises covering his body. There were no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. The mother of the boy has two other children, police said.
