Council Approves School Plan on Disputed Site

The City Council approved a Bloomberg administration plan yesterday to build four schools on contaminated land in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
Council critics agreed to drop their objections that the toxins presented a health risk to students after negotiations with mayor’s aides. The aides agreed to a public process to address concerns raised by a consultant’s environmental assessment, set to be released at the end of the month.
