The foster mother of a 6-year-old has been arrested in Harlem after she gave the child pain medication in addition to a pain patch that may have led to her death, police officials said. The girl, identified by police as Taylor Webster, was given Motrin after she complained of pain in her neck on Sunday evening, officials said. Later her foster mother, Joanne Alvarez, applied a pain medication patch to the area that was hurting her, officials said. The girl was later found unconscious in her room. She died two hours later at Mount Sinai Hospital. Ms. Alvarez was charged with criminally negligent homicide.
